Well on what was one of the hottest evenings of the year, was it a good idea to go for a hot meal in a busy restaurant , answer, definitely yes. A cool pint of Peroni soon had my ambient temperature down and in the comfortable air conditioned Amores I was ready for proceedings to begin. Organiser of the cabaret Dave Clifford gave me a run down of the nights proceedings and said how pleased he was that the local community were supporting the live cabaret nights which will continue on the last Wednesday of every month. Dave also tells me it’s not just the locals who support this fine Italian eating house, there are celebrity diners who just love Amores and often pay a visit if they are filming or performing in the area.
What I like about this business is that all the staff muck in to help out, from Sahid the manager who is often found waiting on tables, his wife Trisha behind the bar, waiters and waitresses all busy making sure the customer have the best dining experience ever.
It was time for Phil Voss to take the stage, well a cleared table area, I’m told dining space is like real estate in London’s Mayfair in this restaurant. I would have liked to have seen a spot light on Phil Voss as he did look a bit like a waiter and I did try whistling up some garlic bread to no avail. Phil began his first set with a few classic Italian numbers which he told me he did not understand that much but had learned them especially for this night; I don’t think he was alone there, but everyone enjoyed the songs. Now I am well into Italian mode and my guest and I decide to go for the speciality pasta dishes sharing a meat and vegetable combination. I am very much a meat man, but on this occasion after sampling both dishes, I could not keep my fork out of the pasta, veg & sumptuous sauce and devoured the plate of food.
Phil Voss was by now in his party set and diners were getting stuck into their puddings, every one lovingly prepared by the busy chefs, ice cream, gateaux and Amores very own designer puddings were been gobbled up quicker than a racing Ferrari. Phil Voss continued with his party set and was soon getting the attention of a party of ladies on a big night out. Phil did not disappoint and soon had everyone dancing and singing along. A good night had by all.

A big thank you to all the staff
