Amore’s and Chris Bateman
Amore’s and Chris Bateman
Amore’s, Station Road, Beeston
Wednesday 26th May, by Reg Enderby, Editor of The Nottingham Gig Guide
Amore’s in Beeston an unusual setting for a soul and Motown artiste to perform in an Italian Restaurant. Slightly late on arrival, yes my guest was defrizzing her hair, we nearly lost our table as is the popularity of this eating establishment. Quickly seated we were soon getting into Italian mode with the red wine and Peroni Beer. Soon after ordering our Filetto Boscailla & Diana steaks, they arrived in sauces to die for and in portions that matched hungry appetites.
Amore’s now full and and a party atmosphere in place, Chris Bateman took to the stage easing the diners with a few jazz and laid back numbers. The food and drinks continued to flow and the Italian puddings arrived, sweet and sumptuous, the names were unpronounceable but tasted heavenly. Something you don’t have to worry if you don’t speak Italian, the staff are so helpful and will help you through the menu, although all the dishes have precise brief English descriptions.
After a short intermission for the food and drink to settle Bateman came on for his main show and opened with “Amore” to the delight of the crowd, although I don’t remember hearing this at the local soul do. But all became clear as tonight was also a special occasion for the owners who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. Batemen then slipped into soul mode and the diners soon became dancers as classic soul and Motown hits were the order of the day.
This was a special night and live nights are usually themed and once a month. I will certainly be going back, I have a whole list of pasta, fish, chicken, veal and steak dishes to get though, not to mention those heavenly Italian puddings…. if I can get a table.
If you love food, you will love Amore’s.
